Western Caribbean Cruise

Day 1
We arrived in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, January 17 after an uneventful Jet Blue flight. When we left our house it was 14 degrees and we had 6 inches of ice on the ground. A great time to leave Washington.

When we arrived, we waited an hour on the plane waiting for a gate to pull up to. Once there, all of our bags arrived and we took a cab to the hotel - The Sheraton Yankee Clipper.

Fort Lauderdale is cold. Not Washington DC cold, but we were clearly going to need our jackets.

On the way we called Sid who was in town but heading back to DC  the next day. He picked us up at the hotel and we swung by the Embassy Suites to pick up Chris. The three of us went to the gay area of town for a late lunch.

Then we headed back to the hotel and waited on a call from Doug and Tom once they arrived from LA.

Doug and Tom called around 8:30 and we made plans to meet at a local restaurant “The Casablanca Cafe”. The food was excellent! Everyone retired to their hotels for some much needed rest to get ready for our first full day of vacation.
