Western Caribbean Cruise

The Constellation cruises at almost 25 miles per hour. That is fast enough to water ski behind. Yet most of the time you would think you were sitting in a hotel room rather than a large ocean liner going like gang busters across the Caribbean. The passengers are all settling in to their cruise vacation now. Everyone is over their initial travel excitement and now are getting down to relaxing. You can tell by the general feeling of everyone on the ship.

The days at sea are perfect for relaxation. This cruise in particular is since we have a day at sea almost every other day. So you do not have to worry about getting up and catching an excursion, you can just relax, sleep in, read, hit the gym, see a movie or just sit in the Cova Cafe and people watch.

Our cabin attendant “Caytano” makes sure that the cabin has fresh flowers and the fruit bowl is full and the room cleaned twice a day. At 5:00 everyday he brings us canapé's and turns the bed down at night with chocolates on the pillows and the daily newspaper listing the ship’s activities for the next day.

Before lunch Rob did his 35 minutes on the treadmill getting his heart rate up to an average of 145. He’s doing this on sea days - leaving port days for the beach and shopping. Rob and I met everyone for lunch. We cruised through the art auction’s pre-show, then I spent some time working on my diving logs and Rob took in some spa time.

Tomorrow is Aruba and Tom and I are diving again. The rest of the guys are planning on spending some time on the beach and doing lunch ashore. The weather should be perfect. We are all looking forward to a great time.

The picture below was the sunset taken this afternoon from our verandah. Red at Night - A Sailor’s delight!
